The annual Borlaug Memorial Lecture commemorates the contributions University of Minnesota alumnus Dr. Norman Borlaug made to fighting world hunger and celebrates those who follow in Dr. Borlaug's footsteps.

The 19th Annual Borlaug Memorial Lecture will be held on Monday, October 20, 2025 at 3:30 PM CT on the University of Minnesota, St. Paul Campus. RSVP to attend in person or join via zoom.

Today is Norman Borlaug Day in Minnesota!

Since 2004, the governor has proclaimed one day a year to be Norman E. Borlaug Day in the state. This year, Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz declared October 16 Norman E. Borlaug Day, so we honor his legacy today and in the years going forward.

Congratulations to Amy Jacobson, the 2025 Emerging Leader in Plant Sciences!

The 2025 Borlaug Memorial Lecture Planning Committee is excited to announce that Dr. Amy Jacobson, has been selected as this year's Emerging Leader in Plant Sciences (ELIPS). Dr Jacobson is a 2014 graduate with a PhD in Plant Breeding and Genetics and is currently a corn breeder at Corteva Agriscience. 

Announcing the 2025 Borlaug Memorial Lecture Keynote Speaker

Dr. Arshnee Moodley will present the 2025 Borlaug Memorial Lecture at the University of Minnesota. A team leader for antimicrobial resistance at the International Livestock Research Institute, Dr. Moodley is a microbiologist with a PhD in antimicrobial resistance and zoonosis from the University of Copenhagen (UCPH), Denmark.
